How does one properly dose CBD, you may ask. While there’s no danger of overdosing on CBD, finding the right dosage is important for a number of reasons.
Firstly, you don’t want to go spending loads of money on CBD oil because you’re taking too much. An unnecessarily large dose will just end up hurting your pocket. On the other hand, not taking enough might not give you the results that you’re looking for.
How To Properly Dose CBD
Sometimes, finding the perfect dose takes a little bit of time, trial and error. We will provide a guide for dosage in this article, but you need to understand that it will be highly personalized.
For those taking CBD to deal with chronic pain, a higher dosage might be necessary than for somebody who is taking it for wellbeing. Finding the perfect balance might take a while.
Finally, your needs might change over time. You might find that after a few months of using a certain dosage, you don’t need to take as much.
On the other hand, you might find that you have become slightly desensitized to it after a long time, in which case you’ll need to up your dosage. It all really depends on how your body responds – which is something we can’t tell you, unfortunately.
Always Start With the Label
The best place to start to properly dose CBD is the label on the bottle! It might sound like common sense, but the manufacturers are always going to have the best idea of what is an appropriate dosage. If you use the label as a starting point, you can work your way up or down depending on how it affects you.
Start Small and Work Your Way Up
For some people, 3-5 mg of CBD is a perfect dose. For others, 50mg is the desired dose. But we’re not saying that you should start at 50mg. Actually, it’s better to start at a very low dosage and work your way up.
For example, if it’s your first time using CBD, try using 5mg twice a day. If you have not achieved the results you’re looking for within the first few days, then you can increase it accordingly. Work your way up using 5mg increments.
Why are you taking CBD?
For the most part, dosage for CBD will vary greatly depending on the reason that it is being used. Here is a very rough guide for the dosage of CBD according to different reasons for use:
- For pain, take 2-20 mg. Do this for at least 21 days.
- For epilepsy, the dose can be between 200 and 300mg. It can be used every day or simply as needed.
- For sleep disorders, 50-150mg.
- For glaucoma, 20-50mg.
If you are using CBD for wellbeing, your dosage could be anywhere in the ranges that we’ve mentioned. But as we briefly discussed, it is better to start small and work your way up rather than to start off with a big dose.
As is the case with humans, there is also no danger of your pets overdosing on CBD. So you never have to let that be a worry. For the same reasons we’ve already talked about, it is better to find your pet’s ideal dosage than to guess every time.
You can apply this general rule when dosing your pets: 2.5mg for each 1 lb that your dog weighs. For example, if your dog weighs 15 pounds, then 37.5mg can be administered to your pup. You can either dose once or twice a day regularly, or simply as they need it.
If it’s taking you some time to find your perfect dose, don’t fret. Exercise a little bit of patience and just listen to your body carefully. Continue increasing or decreasing your dose, depending on whether or not it is having the desired effect. If it takes a few months to find to find that perfect amount, it’s okay!
To properly dose CBD is extremely personalized and can take a little bit of time. That is why it is really hard to say what is the perfect dose. Everybody will be different, depending on their tolerance and on what they are looking to get out of using CBD.
